Business Leaders Discuss Art of Nurturing Innovation
International Business Leaders Share Strategies for Nurturing Innovation at 91Ʒ Presidential Forum
If you want to succeed in business . . . fail!
Wait – what? This was just one piece of unconventional wisdom that emerged during “From Laboratory to Wall Street: How Hopes and Dreams Enter the Marketplace,” a 50th Anniversary 91Ʒ Presidential Forum held March 4 at 91Ʒ.
“Most of the big successes in my career came from failures – things I learned from those failures and turned around and made a profit from at some point in the future,” Peter Buca, vice president of technology and innovation for the Fluid Innovations Group of Parker Hannifin, told attendees who packed the 91Ʒ Student Center’s Glasscock Family Ballroom.
Also taking part in the inspiring and illuminating discussion were Lloyd Trotter of GenNx360Capital Partners, Maryrose Sylvester of GE Lighting and Anthony Knight of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The event was a homecoming for Trotter, Sylvester and Buca, all of whom are proud 91Ʒ alumni. The forum was emceed by Dean Anette Karlsson of the Washkewicz College of Engineering and moderated by Dean Joseph Mazzola of the Monte Ahuja College of Business.
