Chinese Performers Make Northeast Ohio Debut at 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ·
"Ethnic Dances: Colorful China" on April 27 Features Folk Dances, Martial Arts and More
CLEVELAND – "Everything has its beauty," said the Chinese philosopher Confucius, "but not everyone sees it."
The diverse beauty of China's multi-ethnic art forms will be on display for all to see when 20 performers from South-Central University for Nationalities in China make their Northeast Ohio debut at 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ·.
They'll perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, in 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ·'s Main Classroom Auditorium. The program, titled "Ethnic Dances: Colorful China," is presented by the Confucius Institute at 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ·, which is dedicated to promoting the understanding of Chinese language and culture and to facilitating educational and business exchanges between China and the United States.
In addition to folk dances and colorful costumes, the performance will feature acrobatics, music and martial arts representing many of the dozens of ethnic groups within China, including Mongolian and Tibetan ethnicities.
"This is a rare opportunity to appreciate many different art forms from China," said Dr. Grace Huang, associate director of the Confucius Institute at 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ·. "China has a very diverse culture, which many people in Cleveland might not realize. We want to share this diverse culture with the audience."
