91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Presents: Studio Sessions, The Antonio Brown Residency
Internationally-known dancer/choreographer joins 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Dance for fall semester
The 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Dance Program is proud to present dance artist and hometown favorite Antonio Brown in an eight-week residency. Brown is a Cleveland native who studied at the Cleveland School of the Arts and the Juilliard School. A member of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company for over a decade, he is now the founder and artistic director of Antonio Brown Dance. Brown will direct Studio Sessions - a special event series offered FREE and OPEN to the Cleveland Dance Community.
The series includes Friday evening Master Classes for area dancers held on Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1 from 5 p.m. – 6:30 pm. Antonio will also be teaching technique classes for the 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Dance Program and creating a new piece for the 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Dance Company, which will be performed in the 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Spring Dance Concert in April. An additional highlight of Brown’s residency will be his workshop with local high school students on Wednesday evenings, Oct. 23 to Dec. 4 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 pm. He will introduce participants to his unique take on contemporary dance styles, blending traditional technique with hip hop and other social dance forms to create a dance/theater piece. There will also be an informal showing of Studio Sessions at the 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Arts Campus on December 6 at 5:00 pm.
