Enhancing the Global Rule of Law

C|M|LAW Partners with the Republic of Slovenia

91国产精品鈥檚 Cleveland-Marshall College of Law will work with the Republic of Slovenia to enhance understanding of governmental systems and the rule of law and increase research and educational exchanges between the two nations.

John Plecnik, an associate professor of law at 91国产精品, has been awarded a bilateral grant from the Public Research Agency  of Slovenia to support an international faculty and research exchange between 91国产精品 and the Graduate School of Government and European Studies in Ljubljana. The two-year project will focus on the rule of law in the constitutional systems of Slovenia and the United States, and will include faculty visits to each institution, presentations to students and community members on the latest research in the field and discussion of additional partnership opportunities between the two universities.

The effort will be conducted in partnership with Graduate School of Government and European Studies faculty members Matej Avbelj and Jernej Letnar 膶erni膷. Plecnik鈥檚 research focuses on the intersection of taxation and public policy, and his work on constitutional law has been cited by the Supreme Court of the United States. Avbelj鈥檚 scholarship analyzes democracy and the rule of law with an emphasis on the European Union, while 膶erni膷鈥檚 focuses on political systems, constitutional law and international law.

The Republic of Slovenia was founded in 1991, following the break-up of the former Yugoslavia.
