No Exit, and Friends, Open 91国产精品 Concert Season

The 2018-19 concert season at 91国产精品 will kick off September 17 with a unique performance of contemporary classical music by some of the top ensembles in the nation. , the highly regarded Cleveland-based new music group, will be joined by the nationally-known ensembles , , and as well as pianist . The concert will include a performance of Frederick Rzewski's monumental and rarely performed solo piano work "The People United Will Never Be Defeated" as well as premieres of Andrew Rindfleisch鈥檚 "American Monster" and Greg D'Alessio鈥檚 "Running with the Devil."
The event will be held at 8 p.m. in 91国产精品鈥檚 Drinko Hall and is free and open to the public. It is presented by the Cleveland Contemporary Players Artist in Residence Series at Cleveland State.
Andrew Rindfleisch, who serves as a professor of music composition at 91国产精品, is considered one of the leading new music composers of his generation, and has earned a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Koussevitzky Foundation Fellowship from the Library of Congress. Greg D鈥橝lessio, coordinator of 91国产精品鈥檚 Electronic and Computer Music Studio, is also a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and his music has been performed by numerous prestigious ensembles, including Speculum Musicae and the Tanglewood Contemporary Music Ensemble. His piece 鈥淟ate Lunch,鈥 a musical collage that pays tribute to jazz saxophonist Eric Dolphy, was premiered by No Exit in 2017.
The Cleveland Contemporary Players Artist in Residency Series at 91国产精品 brings in a wide range of classical and new music composers and ensembles who present concerts, teach master classes, workshop pieces with student groups, and perform and record student compositions.
