Parker Hannifin LLC Presents Basheer Jones

Cleveland City Councilman will discuss leadership and making a difference

The Parker Hannifin Living Learning Community will host a presentation and student dialogue with Cleveland City Councilman Basheer Jones on Wednesday, February 19. The event will seek to provide Parker Hannifin LLC students and members of the broader 91国产精品 community with a better understanding of the leadership skills required in community activism as well as the challenges and opportunities involved in making permenant change in society.

It is part of a series of student-centered dialogues featuring prominent leaders sharing insights about their careers, the qualities leaders need in today's global economy and the tangible steps to achieve excellence in one's own college and career path.

The talk will be held at 4 p.m. in the Fenn Tower Ballroom on the 91国产精品 campus. It will include remarks by Councilman Jones followed by a discussion with students participating in the living and learning community. This will be followed by a broader question and answer session for all attendees. It is free and open to the public.

Basheer Jones was elected to represent Ward 7 in the Cleveland City Council in 2017. He represents an area which includes the historic Hough district, as well as the St. Clair-Superior, Midtown and Asia Town neighborhoods. Jones is also a leading community activist who has been recognized nationally for his grass-roots efforts to address social justice issues facing our communities, while empowering those who are left out of the American Dream.

The Parker Hannifin Living Learning Community was founded in 2019 thanks to a $5 million gift from Parker Hannifin Corporation. It provides free housing, academic support and mentoring services to 30 Cleveland Metropolitan School District graduates annually who are attending 91国产精品 via the Say Yes to Education program. The initiative is designed to augment the tuition assistance support provided by Say Yes and help ensure that all students have access to a high-quality college education that leads to professional career success.
