The Faculty Senate shall have the duties and responsibilities to:

1. Initiate educational and academic policies of the University.
2. Adopt rules to effectuate the educational and academic policies of the University.
3. Bring up for consideration proposals on matters pertaining to the general welfare of the University.
4. Make recommendations to the Administration relative to buildings, budget priorities, and new proposals and developments.
5. Act upon all matters of routine faculty business in pursuance of already established University policies.
6. Elect members to the Equal Opportunity Hearing Panel.

New from Senate

• Faculty Senate Meeting February 26,  2025 -  and information will be posted prior to the meeting.  NOTE:  the meeting will be held at 3:00pm in the Moot Court Room, LB101.
   
• FRIENDLY REMINDER!  This year, we are asking that colleges elect incoming Faculty Senators for the 2025-2026 caucus, by March 15, 2025.  Each college received a “head’s up” notice in late November, and any questions may be directed to the office of the Faculty Senate.
   
• Guidance and resources relating to the Core Curriculum are now housed with the Office of Instructional Excellence: /instructionalexcellence/core-curriculum.
• The Core Curriculum Handbook will continue to house resources related to effective course design:
