Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant (TEACH)

The TEACH Grant program is a non-need based program that provides up to $4,000 (reduced yearly as required by the "federal sequester law") to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching.

To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.25 GPA (at Cleveland State) and be enrolled in a . Students MUST agree to teach as a highly-qualified teacher in a high-need field, at a low-income elementary or secondary school for at least four years within eight years of completing the program for which the TEACH Grant was awarded. Eight year service begins following completion or ceasing enrollment.

Part time students, enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, are eligible for the TEACH Grant at a prorated amount.

If the Grant recipient fails to complete the required teaching service, the TEACH Grant is treated as a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan with interest accruing from the date the grant was disbursed.
