HOUSING SELECTION FAQS
This FAQ section is being developed on an ongoing basis to reflect the frequently asked questions that students will have about the process. Many of the questions that were identified by the team were outlined as sections on the Returning Student Housing Selection Process webpage. If you do not find the answer to your question after reviewing the Housing Selection Process webpage, please send us an email.
Who can live in Cleveland State’s Residential Communities?
Any person who has been admitted to, or who has enrolled in the university as a degree-seeking student registered for 6 or more credit hours at the University by August 1 for the fall semester or January 1 for the spring semester is eligible.
What will the student population at each property look like?
Euclid Commons is First-Year Experience Housing.
The Edge and The Langston will house upper division students who are looking for opportunities and experiences that would differ from a traditional residence hall model. These residential communities will provide students with support from the Department of Residence Life and Housing as well as campus and community resources.
Will there be student staff living in the communities?
Euclid Commons will have Resident Assistants who work to actively engage students in our residential education curriculum, build community, and provide University resources.
The Edge and The Langston communities will have Community Assistants who will support students outside the classroom. We will do this through our residential curriculum built specifically with upper division students in mind.
Can I park on-site at The Edge or The Langston?
The Edge Covered and Uncovered lots and The Langston Surface lot are managed by 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· Parking Services. The Langston garages are managed by Residence Life. More information about reserving a garage spot for Fall 25-26 is coming soon. Due to limited parking spaces at each community, this will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.
Will meal plans be required?
All residents in university housing are required to select one of the residential meal plans for the entire academic year. Students residing in The Edge and The Langston will be eligible for a condensed meal plan (Weekly 5 + $500 dining dollars each semester) at a lower rate to reflect the independent living environment while ensuring students have access to sustenance throughout the year while dining locations and restaurants are open.

What is a housing contract?
The Housing Contract is a binding document similar to that of a Landlord/Tenant lease agreement so it is very important that students carefully review the Housing Contract as they are adhering to its terms and conditions and will be financially responsible all housing charges for the 2025-2026 academic year.
What are the contract terms for next year?
New for Fall 2024: All students have the option to choose a 10 or 12 month contract. The default contract will be 10 months (August-May), but students can now opt into a 12 month contract, that will also cover summer (August-July). Summer housing will be an additional $2000 for Summer 2025. Students who opt into a 12-month contract, will be billed $1,000 in the Fall 2024 semester and another $1,000 in the Spring 2025 semester, allowing financial aid, grants, or scholarships to assist with funding, if eligible.
Summer Housing will still be available each summer by signing a Summer Housing Contract in the Spring each year. Summer Housing location will be determined each Spring, students who decide to stay for summer will move to the summer community at the end of the academic year (in May).
Some residential communities close during break periods. Students are permitted to stay in the communities during the Thanksgiving Recess and Spring Break periods as long as they register when each respective break registration opens. However, Euclid Commons is closed during the Winter Break period (between the end of Fall semester and the start of the Spring semester). Students who wish to stay during Winter Break will pay an additional charge to reflect the Winter Break period. There are no additional winter break fees for residents of The Edge or The Langston.
What is the cost to live in these residential communities?
Students should review the housing rates for 2025-2026 to ensure they understand their financial obligations. This includes the rates for all three residential communities: Euclid Commons, The Edge, and The Langston. Rates are inclusive of utilities and students are also able to utilize the various payment options offered by the university. Housing rates can be viewed here.
How do I pay for my housing?
All room and board fees will be posted to your 91¹ú²ú¾«Æ· student account and due before the start of each semester. Utilize the various payment methods and options offered by the university.
What if I need to change/transfer bedspaces after I move in?
Residence Life and Housing staff will be available to discuss room changes after move-in. Room changes will be made on a case-by-case basis as determined by Residence Life and Housing Staff. Room freezes are in place for the first two weeks at the beginning and end of each semester.
